Universal Ethics, Education and Global Citizenship: A Workshop for School Students

WISCOMP conducted a two-day workshop on ‘Universal Ethics, Education and Global Citizenship’ with 35 high school students at Bluebells School International on 20th and 29th November, 2017.

The workshop was conducted under the Ethicate program which seeks to engage with education and educational spaces using a lens of universal ethics. The workshop drew on the Dalai Lama’s vision of universal ethics to cultivate compassion and ethical discernment particularly in young people, and was contextualized in the challenges faced by youth including exclusion, belongingness, and materialism, among others.

Using elicitive methodologies such as group discussions, poetry, film screenings, and theatre, conversations were facilitated around human values of empathy, kindness, gratitude and forgiveness, along with reflective methods to cultivate and practice these values in our daily lives.
