Launch of The Dalai Lama Chair at MIT, Pune

The Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), Pune and the Foundation made the announcement & declaration, of the Dalai Lama Chair for Indic Studies with an emphasis on the Nalanda Tradition & Dalai Lama Studies at the University. The virtual ceremony was held on 4 October, 2020.
The announcement was made by Hon. Pema Khandu, the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh in the august presence of Swami Atmapriyananda, a senior monk of The Ramakrishna Mission. Mr. Rajiv Mehrotra, Foundation’s Secretary and Managing Trustee introduced the Dalai Lama Chair and subsequently moderated a panel discussion on Aspects of India’s Heritage and its Relevance to Contemporary Predicaments.
The Foundation and MIT have signed an MoU to establish the Chair. The announcement is a precursor to the launch of the Dalai Lama Center at the MIT. An Official Committee has been constituted to jointly work on the long-term roadmap of the Chair and to establish the Dalai Lama Centre .
