WISCOMP facilitated a workshop for a team of senior faculty members from Government College of Education, Srinagar on January 31, 2020 at New Delhi.

The workshop was designed on the premise that gender sensitization of teacher educators can have a ripple effect on gender awareness in schools and among young people in schools. The program included sessions on how to conduct gender audits, how to en-gender curriculum at a teacher training institute and adherence to the legal mandates under the anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 2013.

The Government College of Education and WISCOMP will carry forward this collaboration and a follow up seminar-cum-workshop on gender sensitive pedagogic practice is proposed at Srinagar in the coming months. Prof. Seema Naz (Associate Professor and until recently the officiating Principal of the college) stated that the workshop had opened up new vistas for an institute that carries out regular ‘on campus’ and outreach gender sensitization programs.
