First Lecture, The Dalai Lama Chair, Goa University

Geshe Tashi Tsering, the abbot of Sera Mey Monastic University, India, gave the the first lecture of H.H. the Dalai Lama Chair in Nalanda Studies at the Goa University, virtually, on Nov. 7, 2020 at 11 am. Geshe Tashi is a visiting research professor for the Chair. The lecture was followed by a conversation with Mr. Rajiv Mehrotra, the Foundation’s Secretary and Managing Trustee.
The Chair was established at the Goa University by the Foundation in December 2019 in the presence of His Holiness.
The Chair is a visiting position, with scholar and practitioner speakers coming to Goa University to shed light on various aspects of the Nalanda Tradition. It seeks to fulfilling His Holiness’s Fourth Commitment: Preservation and Promotion of the Nalanda Tradition. Emulating the Nalanda masters’ example of using human intelligence to the full by employing rigorous reason and logic, the scholars adopt a strictly secular approach to address contemporary predicaments.
