The WISCOMP Saahas Awards 2020 of the Foundation acknowledged and celebrated the courageous efforts of 12 gender-justice animators from universities and colleges across India who expanded the canvas of gender sensitivity and gender equity in higher education spaces. These awards acknowledge and applaud the efforts of educators, students and administrators to foster gender justice in higher education. The Foundation also conferred the Saahas Shrestha Award (Shero of Courage) on Sr. Vinitha, Director, St. Teresa’s College, Kochi for her pathbreaking contributions to women’s education and facilitating gender-just institutional policies. The virtual award ceremony was held on 24 August 2020 with support from the Public Affairs Section, U.S. Embassy, New Delhi. The Ceremony was streamed lived across various social media platforms and received an overwhelming response from academia and public. The program was viewed by more than 10,000 people from across the world. The media also expressed interest and appreciation in the program and covered the stories of Saahas in —–articles. This is especially significant in view of the fact that the global pandemic has led to the suspension of many activities on gender equality on university and college campuses in India.
