The Foundation had the pleasure and honor of holding the launch of the book, The Tibetan Suitcase by Tsering Namgyal Khortsa, and discussions around it and beyond on Dec. 26, 2019. Along the with the author himself, our discussions were joined by a very distinguished panel with Maya Joshi and Prashant Nawani as the discussants and Trisha Niyogi as the moderator.
Trisha Niyogi led the audience through a brief history of Tibetan literature in English language and the contemporary Tibetan literary landscape, especially in the diaspora. Maya Joshi presented her views on the book’s significance in the larger context of postcolonial literature, which was particularly effective because of her unique background in Buddhist philosophy and English literature, and Prashant Nawani related his experience of reading the book.
The discussions were vigorous, thoughtful and intimate, and a hugely enriching experience for everyone present.
