Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar 17-19 September 2019
WISCOMP organized its fourth workshop on ‘Gender, Equity and Inclusion: Transformative Pathways in Higher Education’ at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (KMV), Jalandhar on 17-19 September 2019. The workshop was conducted as a part of WISCOMP’s ‘Hamsa: Campus Equity Initiative’ which seeks to facilitate and institutionalize gender-just norms and practices at higher educational institutions. The initiative is supported by the Public Affairs Section, US Embassy in New Delhi.
The participants at the workshop included faculty and senior management administrators from KMV and other colleges and universities in the vicinity including Punjabi University, Patiala, Cordia College, Sanghol, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Guru Nanak National University, Nakodar, and State Police Academy, Punjab. In addition, it drew participation of students from KMV as Observers. Faculty members and research scholars from Ambedkar University, Delhi also participated at the workshop. Several eminent feminist scholars and gender experts from India and the US shared the experiences and learnings with the participants.
On the second day, students from KMV actively engaged in the discussion on the possibilities of using media to reconstruct gender stereotypes at the concurrent workshop, GenderTalk.
