25th Gurukul programme took place from May 19th to June 13, 2019 in Dharamsala, HP., India. There were 28 participants (14 females and 14 males) from nine different state and 16 different educational institutes from across India.
The programme sought to engage the participants in centuries-old tradition of exchange learning, Guru-Shishya tradition, between the Indians and Tibetans. By arranging their stay in monasteries and nunneries, partnering with multiple local organizations in Dharamsala to lead multi-format sessions, and fostering open and deep interactions, the participants were given the opportunity to immerse themselves in the different aspects of culture and lives of exiled Tibetan community in Dharamsala.
The Foundation hopes that this the experiential learnings from this programme helps the participants complement their formal education and that they feel encouraged to critically reflect on how this learning could be used to enrich lives of their own and others’.
During the Programme the participants will live in monastery and nunnery where they will start each day with a meditation session. During the day, participants will engage in immersion activities such as learning a traditional Tibetan craft/ art/ dance, or volunteer at a center of their choice.
